Kyle Down Under

He came, he saw, he got sunburnt... But he had a great time anyway!

Click on the smaller pictures and the full sized shot should open in another window.

The Grampians

The Grampians are a small, but picturesque group of mountains about 3 hours west of Melbourne. We stopped there on our way to Mildura, which is on Victoria's north-west border.

In the Desert

Mildura is like an oasis in the desert. The area surrounding it is arid hot. The Murray River which serves as the border between NSW and Victoria provides water for local farmers via an irrigation scheme, but you don't have to drive very far to find sand dunes and desert landscapes.

These pictures were taken at Wentworth and Mungo National Park. As you can see, sometimes the moon does come out in the middle of the afternoon!!!

See if you can spot the kangaroo in this picture ...

Driving On The Wrong Side

For those of you who don't know, Australians drive on the left-hand side of the road, which means the steering wheel is on the right-hand side of the car. This takes a bit of getting used to for us Canadians!

Other Stuff

Here are some more shots. Firstly Kyle on Christmas Day still sunburnt from his first visit to the beach. The second, he's grabbing a road-side snack during our Mildura trip. The third one shows him trying his skill at Boomerang Throwing and in the last one, we've caught him with his pants down!
